Cross-drill #2 &3 bearing journals on the crank.
Centrifigal force works against the factory oil galleys at sustained high rpm.
My 944 race car has the cross drilled crank, and trap doors in the oil pan to keep oil in the center near the pick-up when cornering. There are a bunch of us running 944s in ITS class, and none of us have had an engine failure after these mods.
#2 always goes first. The shop that sets the cars up for us did some testing, and found that both 2 and 3 suffer from dropped oil pressure at high rpm, while 1 and 4 are fine. Even though you will never hear of #3 letting go, it's only because #2 went first. Cross-drill them both.
