my theory:
I was actually whipping the car pretty hard, and I think the ball part of the ball and socket joint that connects to the engine linkage came off.
Don't know if it was braded, welded, or bolted on; anybody?
Due to its orientation, the assy slid out of the engine compartment and under the car.
not to worry--we have lots of walkers in the neighborhood: someone probably found it and tossed it off the road. Worst case; I'll be rummaging through the rattlers, copperheads and bears, finding the cursed thing.....
Right now, it's running--got a piece of metal coat hanger strung between engine and pivot assy..........
