A little history to this story I have owned my car for about 6 months bought from the 2nd owner who owned for 33 years. My two major problems with the car when I bought it were that the paint was so so and the interior carpet had been replaced with what looked like a black domestic weave. The center tunnel, back of rear seats, sills were covered and the rubber mats were gone and the same carpet was in their place. The perlon every where else was great and my interior seats(no rips), dash( no cracks), rear deck, and headliner(except for some minor browning at edges) look like new. Well while vacuuming out the interior the vacum pulled up the carpet on the floor mats and to my surprise the previous owner had someone sew this black carpet to all the areas mentioned above. I guess to prevent wear. So I removed the stiching to find some real nice rubber mats and the rest of the carpet in great shape. The question I have is that on the rear of the back seats the only carpet was this black type of carpet that was a little differant than the rest is this the original or were they also covered in perlon?
