I doubt that you can hear them over the clatter of the engine cranking.
Keep it simple. Pull a few injectors and place them into glass jars. Ignition ON, briefly lift the Airsensor Plate. Even with 2 seconds running, you should see some fuel in the jars. After a change of pump, some air is in the lines and system. Fire Extinguisher nearby!
[*]I checked the timing before putting it back in about 3 times...
Make sure that the #1 cylinder is indeed at the compression stroke. Rotor pointing to notch is no guaranty that timing is correct; it may be 180 deg off
[*]I have reviewed the plug wires and they are in the correct order
Direction of rotation of the distributor is ccw. The Bentley mistakenly says cw.
