New Rebuild Spewing Oil...

But at least I know where it is coming from. Everything is dry except for the joint between the drivers side cam line where it enters the case just behind the distributor.

The oil leaks down from the fitting to where the sheet metal meets case and then travels along the edge of the case to the bottom seam and all over the place after that. After cleaning it up and letting it sit over night I have no drops under the engine so this is a while running pressure related leak. It did not make its presence know until I went for the 1st drive and stopped to fill up the tank... $75 DOH!

Can I simply tighten the fitting more? I thought I read in the rebuild book not to tighten it too tight... I also am considering using some curil-T to seal it up. It is a new pipe so should be no concerns about it being worn. Or should I simply buy a new part? <- not my desired answer, BTW

I'll obviously have to remove the distributor to get to it. Not an issue as I finally learned that the '5' on the crank pulley was actually part of the '25' .. heheh setting timing was a fun learning experience.

Best regards,

Michael
