Hillclimbing Sicilian Style - Taste of the Targa Florio
Happiness is a beautiful, sunny day in Sicily, standing on a hillside surrounded by enthusiatic fellow gearheads, drinking wine and eating panninis, watching and listening to the sound of flat-sixes, webered fours and other machinery as they wail past. Just got back from my place in the hilltown of Caccamo, Sicily, which is a mountain range west of the old Targa Florio route, and caught one stage of the International Historic Challenge

. It is a multistage hillclimb event held in the fall from the coast to various hilltowns in a kind of reenactment of the Targa. Most guys come from Sicily, but also from other parts of italy. And they can drive. Was great to get a taste of what the Targa must have been like.
Enjoy the video and turn up your speakers.
