Porsche Crest Crazy needle--oil pressure gauge

I've read a lot of the threads about this problem and think I have a different question... My needle bounces around and sometimes reads slightly above 5 while driving. Sometimes it'll steady out at ~1 when at idle, but its most often moving erratically between 2-4. I have semi-exposed wiring running to the pressure sensors. I've also found some rust on the wire connected to the lower sensor. Could this repair be as simple as wrapping the wire in electrical tape and cleaning and reconnecting the lower wire mount?

Thanks,
David

Here are some shots of the sensor wiring.

And another customary shot of the car...
