Here is what you need to do. put the car on jackstands best if you can do all four corners. But in the back just before the shift rod enters the trans you should have a rubber boot. Pull it back and you will see a clevis looking deal that connects the two shafts. there shuld be two plastic bushings, yours maybe shot. Then go up front this is gonna suck. At the front end of the rod as it attaches to the shift lever you have another plastic cup socket. Probably shot too. See "greg nichols tips" he has a detailed proceure to fix.
