Frankly, resale value to a purist shouldn't be a heavy concern in a '74 model. For quite some time I've wondered why there aren't more '74-'77 "hot rodded" 911's out there. Slightly more weight than a pre '74, but the basic building material would cost a lot less. Aluminum case would be a good option, but you might also think of just buying a larger displacement later engine from a wrecked-em yard.
