A US spec 2.7 Carrera, whilst not as sort after as the Euro one, is quite rare, nonetheless. However, I think it would be fair to say (and I am a Middle Year car fan) that mostly people aren't to dear about the 2.7, particularly in US spec - I know the US spec Carrera engine is the equivalent to the ROW 911S too.
Therefore, upgrading simply to a 3.0 SC engine with CIS makes sense - and making it rather like the ROW 3.0 litre Carrera, in fact. Given what you would spend getting the 2.7 to spec you could easily get a 3 litre engine, and get a few more BHP thrown in too. I think this would be an asset to the car and wouldn't devalue it at all because of the reassurance of the SC engine - check those headstuds aren't snapped, though!
