You mention above that justifying several thousand was something you couldn't do.... ANYTHING you do engine-wise will cost more than that, so as JP rightly suggests, dreaming is cheap. I spent lots, some unwisely (JP is right about the parts acquisition part as well) because I hadn't defined and/or stuck to a clear, simple scope for my project - A rookie mistake I'll not make again. Costs on these things can balloon very easily indeed!
