The pertronix is a good unit, but it does have at least one design deficiency that I know of.
The wires go through a rubber grommet in the dizzy and the wires are loose in the grommet. Any tension on the wires will pull them and they will move until they contact the rotating asembly in the dizzy. The wires are kind of fragile and they can develop intermittant shorts. My solution is to put a dab of silicon RTV o the wires where they go through the grommet, This keeps them where I want them.
Oh, one other thing to check:
make darn sure your dizzy is fully and completely seated in the hole. I have seen them where the egagement tooth is barely in there and they will jump time temporarily. The engine dies, and then after some cranking the rotor gets re-seated and starts right up again. Frustrating as all get out.

The best thing about Pertronix (besides the price) is that they have a very liberal warranty policy. If you have a bad unit, chances are they will give you a brand new rerplacement no matter how long you have had it. They are in San Dimas Ca. I think.
