There are some folks who recommend doing it periodically, but the majority of bikes get it during the initial service and then never again. My bike is nearing 50K and no issues.

It's not a simple torque number - you're supposed to torque to an initial value and the turn the bolt a specified number of degrees which requires a special tool. Which means that if you want to re-do it, you should back things off and start over. This sounds like an opportunity to break something that isn't broken to me.

I'd only do it if I noted leaking.
