Chris, when an engine has 4 holes in the block it's a 4 cylinder. I don't care how they fire it, it's still a 4 cylinder. Using your logic, if they fire all 4 cylinders at the same time it would be a thumper??
Now, I'm not taking anything away from Yamaha and their engineers for doing something different, but 4 holes in the block (with pistons in them, not outside air) is a 4 cylinder engine.
