Make sure your door is making contact when it closes. My passenger door was not pushing in the switch enough.
I put a self sticking, rubber bumper on the door where it makes contact with the switch. Like the kind used on furniture or cabinet doors.
Problem solved.
It doesn't sound like that is your problem. But if it works when you press it with your finger and not when you close the door, it might be.
