on the checkout page of client shopping carts, i display the IP number.
it's pulled from their own computer. they're the only one that sees it.
if you don't have a firewall, you're a fool. i finally turned off the file that logged people sniffing around my IP. the file got too big.
once did a nice clean, cold build of a computer in the garage, was having problems with the nic card, so i plugged it directly to the cable modem
took all of about 3 seconds for it to get attacked, hacked and zombied.
wasn't amused, but at least i found out that the card wasn't the problem.
apparently, it worked just fine.
besides, have you ever tried to reverse-directory an IP number down to the user? best o' luck....
