Thanks, Mike. That's EXACTLY what I want to hear. When more horsepower is claimed, I suspect that it has been loaded into a 1000 rpm range at the expense of performance elsewhere on the tach. At least that's the way u;ltra high performance cars are set up.....with a spiky power curve. Passenger cars are set up with more flat power curves, of course.
Anyway, if improved cams can give these cars higher peak hp AND ALSO widen the power band, then it seems clear much was sacrificed in the name of 'emission control.' I suspect a similar improvement happens with pistons that are not set up for emission control, such as the stock ones in my car. Thanks, Mike. I'm very excited.
