I have an idea, but I don't know if I can translate into writing. I'll try.

Get a piece of metal the size of the normal batteries with ears, but a little bit wider. Drill holes on the outside, and use one of those universal battery hold down kits from an auto parts store.

So the piece of metal will stick in the flanges, and the battery will be secured to the plate.

I hope that makes sense.
