I've been taking my cars to San Diego Porsche shops for 25 years, and I can offer some info. I've been to Dieter's, Black Forest, Personalized ********, Hoehn Porsche, and Pioneer Porsche. The dealerships are great for valve adjmts. I've not had any other service done there. The independents are all competent. Dieter's and BF are high volume shops, so they do a lot of work for a lot of people. Personalized is operated by Wayne Baker, ex-934 and 914 racer. They have vast race set-up experience. My only complaint with any of them is when I took my '85 Carrera to Dieter's for a rough running condition. When I got it back there were an additional 700 miles on the odometer. Road testing, I was told.
