that is the overboost switch. it is shown upside down in the picture. by connecting the wire to it to ground and bypassing it you are removing the overboost function. however, if this sensor is failing and the cause of the problem then it is worth doing to get yourslef home to be able to replace that sensor.
it is not adviseable to run around continuously with the sensor bypassed as obviously you risk overboosting.
