currently as I am told if you have a car that is a 1973 model or older you are not subjected to emmissions testing at this time here in california. has anyone got solid (or rumored) info on when they will move that year up to say a 78 model year? i have heard they will go in 5 year incriments, ive heard that they will just quit asking for smog test when you renew your registration and i have heard alot of people say they dont know, this includes DMV staff and a few mechanics ive poled..

I have visited the DMV web site and they give no real info on this matter. has anyone heard what might be the case?

i got me a hankerin' for some SSI's and other exaust mods, but i dont want to have to swap out for smog everyother year.
