As I understand it, the law says 73 and older are exempt, with a rolling 30 year exemption. Unless it changes, which the clowns in Sac keep threatening to do, your SC will be exempt in 2008.
For more good news, we bay area folks will be getting the "enhanced" test soon, and get to be tested on the rollers like LA and Sac.
Regarding SSI's, many people report passing smog with them installed. Your average smog check guy looks at them and thinks they are cats.
