Spring plate mount area
So After 12+ years of working on my car for an hour here and there, I finally got the rust I could find fixed, added sc flares and got the shell painted. I thought I would freshen up the rear wheel wells by scraping them down and recoating and decided to pull the torsion bars and freshen up the spring plates as well and surprise. The section of the torsion tube inside the longitudinal area is rusted through on the bottom. Now I repaired the bottom of the longitudinals and I assume this is why that area rusted out but I'm not sure what to do about this. The area the bushings press against is worthless also. Anyone dealt with this?
I'm thinking about grinding the area out and adding some 18 gauge sheet metal but is there a better fix?
