I just installed Mitch's steering column bushing this weekend. (Must be the time for all of the late 80's Carreras to have them replaced). In any case, took all of about 30 minutes and worth the money.
I had some steering column movement that made the wheel deflect all around while driving. I figured I'd replace the bushing and pray it wasn't something worse that might cost more $ or be out of my ability to fix. I'd definitely start with the bushing if you have any problems like that.
Mitch's instructions were spot on and made it a really simple repair.
