get the bionic knees done now. the younger you are the easier the rehab and recovery will be.

my mom had two very arthritic knees...she took care of one and them with a replament and that side is much better. she still needs to the do the second. been 2-3yrs now and the family is still wondering why she hasnt done the second. she is 75 now and the rehab might have taken a lot out of her. but she might be looking to do the 2nd one soon.

she had back problems this year due to being off center for so long. all the PT for that got her in better shape and she lost some weight so she might finaly be off a cane for the first time in 10+yrs, if she finally gets the second one soon. the last year before she did the one knee she was using two canes just to get around the house.

i have a customer that got both done at the same time and he was up and around and almost back to nomal in a month he was about your age.
