its totally normal, when gasoline is burned, one output IS water (H2O) excessive soot in the water or out the tailpipe is just that, soot. fuel is not being burnt completely, and lets face it, our cars aren't as "smart" as the cars that are currently being produced today. or the emission requirements from the 80s are not up to par like they are today. there were no ULEV or LEV (ultra low emission vehicle or low emission vehicle) 944s....
but yes it is normal. no worries.
as for the condensation on your oil cap, normal as well. just drive it longer to burn off the condensation in your oil, atleast 20mins of driving usually.
