I have an Italian cousin, and I was very surprised to hear that one of the reasons he came to the States this year was to go shoe shopping. --a bit counter-intuitive, eh?
I'll preemptively add; he is a very wealthy, accomplished, brain surgeon with very discerning tastes. ...no, he doesn't have webbed feet. ...I think.
Anyway, apparently we have higher-end / higher quality builds here, than in Italy.
I will note, that we (US) seem to fuss more over the foot-bed of shoes, than do the Italians. Oh, and he doesn't like frilly elements, so common in Italian shoes. (they do seem more focused on style than substance. ....think Ferrari 308 vs Porsche 911. )
