The rub is that anyone who can decipher computer specs can piece together a low lost desktop in a couple hours. I am a long time PC and Unix user who recently dipped his toes into the Mac pool. Nice OS but in all honestly is not the mind bending experience the faithful paint. That said I did recommend a Mac mini to my Dad (he's 77 and still can't figure out exactly what cut and paste means) cause he gets tons of virus loaded "Democrats are evil" emails from his equally old friends. My G5 PowerMac is for sale (yes a dinosaur -- dual 1.8 GHz G5, 4 GB RAM, 750 GB drive, OS-X 10.5.x, Office '08 and iLife '08 with disks for $500) and I'm looking to build the ultimate Linux development box on the cheap (>$400).
