a good pump will exhibit these
a shaft that has no up/down front to back play.
A weep hole thats not dripping coolant
A shaft friction where if the pulley is spun it quickly slows to a stop from the stiction of the pulley bearing, in otherowrds if you can spin the pulley and it spins for a bit then its worn, OTOH if you spin the pulley and it quickly comes to a stop then it should be good to put into service
