Sure, the build quality might not have been up to par with the early cars, but they defined a decade. Pastel suit jackets and cocaine.

While to me the late 80s 911 turbos are BY FAR the nicest of the lot, to me the Porsche that defined the 80s was not a 911 at all.
It was the 928. It was featured prominently in some of THE movies that defined that decade.
I fell in love with the 928- and Kelly LeBrock!- the first time i ever saw Weird Science. And who can ever forget the 928 "Porsche, there is no substitute" or "Who's the U boat captain?" scenes from Risky Business? Or the "I want the scanners for the flying saucers," 928 car buying scene in the greatest crime flick of all time- Scar face.
To me,
the cars of the 80s will always be:
Lambo Countach
Ferrari Testarosa
Porsche 928
Buick Grand National
Mustang GT
