I hunt "hunted out" parks mostly. The key is my detector. It is a Minelab Explorer made in Austrailia. It goes deeper than any detector made. Minelab makes military mine detection equipment and are always developing new technologies. They of course make consumer detectors which is what this one is. This detector transmits 28 frequencies simultaneously which they have the patent on. All other detectors only transmit 1 or 2. This also makes it work in heavy iron trash with out masking the coins with iron. Long story short, it rocks! You could say they are the Porsche of the detecting world. Some still will like ford better. I have compared targets with almost every top of the line detector made and they all can't hear the coins this one will.
The half is really wore and isn't worth but maybe $10 or $15 tops but they are rare to find. I was so happy you wouldn't believe it if I told you. It really is a thrill to dig a 100+ year old coin out of the ground. You wonder who lost it and how. Plus it is peaceful for the most part, put the headphones on and tune out the world. If you didn't know, silver comes out of the ground just like new most of the time. It does not tarnish like silver does in air. These were only rinsed in water to get the dirt off.
I have several coins I have found worth $600+ each, but they were not as thrilling to find as this one.
