I was driving home from work and the car became stuck in third gear. I was about a block away so I drove it home. I did manage to get into first gear and then in reverse. I can't get it out of reverse and the input shaft (opposite end of the engine) will not move what so ever. I did move the one lever fork (that moves one of the shafts) and I can get the transmission into neutral. Everything inside looks good. A little worn but no apparent damage. Can that shaft bend? It's pretty stout. This is a 4 speed transmission.. Not sure that makes a difference? Can I put in a 5spd without modificaitons? New shifter?
