for best results step 1 would be a damper like damp pro or dynamat xtreme. over that you want a layer of ensolite or similar closed cell foam. last step would be a mass loaded vinyl. damper helps with vibrations and the ensolite absorbs some frequencies and acts as a decoupler between that and the mlv which is used to stop noise from entering the area. this is the process i did in some of my other cars but since i have a targa which is driven 90% of the time with the top off it would be a little overkill.
