Walt-
I dropped the engine to fix an assortment of oil leaks and the starter was covered with grease and oil. I decided to remove it and clean it up while I had the engine out. When I started to removed the lower barrel nut, it turned freely but didn't back out. I finally just grabbed it with a pair of pliers and pulled it out. Looked like the last guy in there stuffed some sort of crappy adhesive in there just to hold the stud in. The hole was completely stripped. I am glad I found this while the engine was out as I would hate to have to tap that hole with the engine in the car.
