After one has reached a certain level of comfort and security, obsession with nickles and dimes is extremely unhealthy.
You are describing people who know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
My father is not wealthy, but he's secure. I've seen him give $100 bills to hitchhiking families. He's not wealthy, but he's rich in ways that can't be measured by an accountant.
Wealthy cheap people annoy the crap out of me. Search for bargains if that makes you happy, but when the affluent tip lightly it's offensive.
