Did you know the Porsche crest originated in the USA? Ferry Porsche, son of Ferdinand Porsche, originally designed the trademark Porsche crest, which consists of the coat of arms of Wurttemberg and Stuttgart and the signature “Porsche” above. He envisioned it while visiting New York, drawing it down onto a napkin.
They fail to mention why Ferry was in NY and why he did draw the design. In a meeting, the East Coast Porsche distributor Max Hoffman told Ferry that the car needed a crest because other sports cars had them and Porsche needed to have the marketing necessities.
Hoffman was also the father of the 356 Speedster.
