I am disturbed by some of the remarks made here, and particularly by some of the personal remarks made toward other members.
I do not favor putting any stop to this. This is an extremely important national debate/discussion. It has to happen and we have become so isolated from one another in our culture that the Internet is, frankly, our new Town Square.
I am very thankful for Pelican. I think my friends here are intelligent, educated and (for the most part) responsible. I need to discuss these incredibly important personal national and international issues and you guys are outperforming most of my verbal conversations here in my local community. I our members are everywhere on the globe. Very, very important to me. Thanks, Wayne. You've been terrific for the entire almost two years that I have been coming here.
BTW, one of our distinguished members e-mailed me to point out I had reversed the ethical philosophy thing. Humans are ends in themselves, not means. And this was Immanuel Kant, not John Locke. I can sure be an idiot sometimes. Thanks for tolerating us all.
