I have 7x16 and 8x16's on my SC, (exactly the same body as your Carrera) it's lowered, new Bilsteins, they fit fine and look great.
If you can find a good deal on 9x16's, they will also fit on the rear. The 7's are it on the front, unless you use 944 Turbo (951) 8" wheels. Part numbers on 911 wheels (on the back of the wheel) start with 911.xxx.xxx, 951 wheels start with 951.xxx.xxx. They have a different offset.
You can use the same tires that are on there now, most do, they look and handle better because the sidewalls are more vertical.
I cannot take a pic of the 930 wheel until later tomorrow, but you can see one in the wheel thread. It has the embossed Porsche crest, 3 spoke, not the big gold crest (which I don't like, I don't like a big shiny thing right in front of my face and there's no other gold inside the car anywhere).
