Sorry, should have clarified. I put an $800, low-mile, rebuilt head from SC on it this winter. That's the one that got destroyed by the valve.
I dropped off the OLD head at the machine shop this week, and much to my relief it checked out AOK. The truck used to pressurize the cooling system and blow hoses, and they are prone to cracking so I was expecting it to be cracked. It was just warped.
