Listen, when your meat and what not are done just keep the heat on for another 10 minutes or so. That will burn off most of the stuff and what is left over will help the next slab of ribs, breast of chicken, flank of beef or any and all veggies you grill.
Next time to fire up, keep it on for about 5 minutes before you use it. That allows more junk to burn off but also allows the grill racks to get real hot and make a nice grill line on your food.
