It was dry the next morning.
I did some more checking on the great flood of 1938 (before they built the prado dam, sepulveda dam, hansen dam, and whittier narrows dam).
At the time it was the 5th largest flood in US history, 115 people died and the flood affected over 20 cities. 5,601 houses were destroyed. If it happened the same way today it would be closer to a million.
At it's peak it flowed 580,000 cubic feet of water per second.
