The numbers you need to compare are the factory numbers for the 993 and the 997. These sumbers are more like comparing apples with apples. Each car however as Bill alluded to can be hugly different. Selecting Heated electric seats with HiFi stereo option will quickly rack on the pounds in a 993.

The 997 2S is 3130, the 993 2S is 3086 this is a good comparison.... and accurate (as base, no option models.)

I doubt you would every find a 997 that is at the minimum weight as mentioned in the manuals, the options add weight very quickly.....
