It brings air to the heat exchangers.

You'll need to remove all that is in front of the piece to get it out (AC compressor, bracket, etc.). You need to remove the two 10mm bolts in your picture and the screw in the picture I posted.

Once it's out, you might be able to use a hot glus gun to either glue a patch in or use the glue itself to string it back and forth to cover the hole (this is what I did).
