Agree with the battery maintainer idea - it's actually better to trickle charge the battery than to remove it from the car altogether. Article on this right here: Pelican Technical Article: Boxster Battery Disconnect Switch / Battery Buddy Installation - 986 / 987
As for the codes, they should reset themselves, possibly when you reconnect the battery, or you can buy the Durametric laptop software ( Pelican Technical Article: Reading Boxster Fuel Injection Fault Codes / Diagnosing Problems - 986 / 987) and reset them yourself.
