It sounds like being poor is keeping you poor. Get yourself a new cap (or clean the one you have with some fine sandpaper and/or a polishing wheel on a dremel) and save some money on gas!
if you need a spare cap, I've got one I can clean up and send to you just to see if your mileage improves...
I will definitely try that meguiars stuff on my spoiler... it's just plain flat black right now, and I'd like a little bit of gloss.
