I'm afraid that this is the price of doing biz as far as driving a p-car in LA County.
It's nothing more than a form of revenue enhancement for the county. A front plate does nothing more than provide a means of ID'ing you by camera if you run a red light, and it has cameras set up.
Barring you running a red light, then it's just another easy ticket for the motor officer to show he's actually doing something other than using up gas, which is also added to his monthly "target" (Not quota mind you..!) of tickets written, which is one form of guaging his productivity.
I see at least 50% of all cars with no front plate here in Orange county. Not many people here get written up for it.....but go to LA county and it's a whole different ball game.
