CIS air flow 2.7L air box to a 3.0L air box can you get more HP.

I need to get a new air box for my 2.7L mine has a been fix one to meany times. I'm hoping that a 3.0L air box will fit and give more air flow and maybe more HP. Has some one tried this will it work-fit? or would I need to port the heads to get the intakes to fit and put in cams?I'd like to just put on the air box and go but it will be nice if it runs right.
