Well, a couple of things. I have seen photos of the rear bumper with relatively large 2-3" holes drilled in the vertical face.
As far as the shocks you would have to replace them with something else since I believe that is the main thing that holds the bumper to the car. I believe I have read somewhere that Euro models didn't use a shock, just a bracket. So you could probably fabricate some kind of bracket to replace the shocks. If you wanted to get extreme you could also pull off the rubber trim . If you are handy you could probably fabricate some of the parts from f/g. Unfortunately as with many things with our cars as heavy as they may be the best weight savings come from removing things entirely. Most things on our cars aren't unnecessarily heavy.
