Steve is correct. The Euro cars had a collaspe-able bracket that had to be replaced when it got hit.
There's a lot of things to lighten before you start fabricating aluminum brackets to hold your bumpers onto the car. Stripped out interior, C/F body panels, ect. I'm sure you've read all of the threads on weight loss.
