Your post caught my attention because the same thing happened with my 96' 993 friday night. I washed it and it wouldn't start. My car has an LS1 in it but I connected my LS1 ECM to the stock ECM wires and I'm using the stock fuel pump, fuel pump relay and fuse position. After I washed it it started then died on the way back into my shop. The motor would turn but no fuel pump or ignition. I jumped the fuel pump relay and still no start. I started looking for other things that didn't work and noticed that the dome lights weren't working. I checked fuses and relays and after a few minutes everything came back. Fuel pump, dome lights.. motor fired up and ran fine.
